How to Create an EasyEntra Virtual User Template

Use case: Create a new EasyEntra Virtual User Template whenever a role or department has recurring onboarding settings you want to standardize and provision in seconds.

To create an EasyEntra Virtual User Template, follow these steps:

  • Right-click an existing user account that matches your template requirements and select “Create Template“.
  • Configure a name for the template and (optionally) a description.
    • The name will typically reflect the function and/or geography for which the template will be used.
    • The template is automatically pre-fixed with “EasyEntra Template.”
  • Click Next to review and modify the properties of your template user.
    • This will become a virtual user, so you can keep the name, email addresses, license assignment, etc.
    • If you change the user’s name, you must also update the UserPrincipalName, SamAccountName, mail attribute, email alias, email addresses, and the auto-reply signature, as they are all auto-generated based on the first name, last name, and display name.
      • Hint: If you prefer to use fictional names for template users, the safest procedure is to (1) create a temporary template, (2) use it to create a temporary user (with a fictional name), and then (3) create a new template from that user – this ensures proper renaming of all relevant attributes.
  • Click Create to create the new EasyEntra Virtual User Template.
