Use case: Use this procedure to create a user account that exists only in on-premises Active Directory. These accounts are used exclusively for local authentication, access control, and resource management within the on-premises domain.
To create a new on-premises user account, follow these steps:
- Right-click the OU where you want to create the user and select New -> User.
- Select On-premises user (not synchronized) from the User Type dropdown.
- Fill out the Display Name and click Next.
- Fill out the UserPrincipalName and SAM Account Name and click Next.
- Modify any user settings according to your needs by navigating the tabs on the left-hand side.
- Click Create to start the user creation process.
