Use case: Use this procedure to quickly create a new Entra ID user based on an existing one. Copying a cloud user in EasyEntra automatically applies the same naming patterns, email format, and account settings, helping ensure consistency and saving time when provisioning similar accounts.
To provision a new user in Entra ID as a copy of an existing Entra ID user, do the following:
- Go to the Entra ID section and locate the user you want to copy.
- Right-click the template user and select Copy.
- Fill out the Display name (or the First and Last names).
- Verify that the Email fits your needs (EasyEntra will copy the email pattern from the original user).
- Click Next and verify that the UserPrincipalName and password fit your needs (EasyEntra will copy the name pattern from the original user).
- Click Next and verify or modify all new user account settings to fit your needs.
- Once you’re happy with the configuration, click Create to create the cloud user. The creation process usually takes around 15–30 seconds to complete (you can perform other tasks in EasyEntra while it runs, e.g., create another user).
- Once the user creation process is complete, verify that everything is correct (allow some time for all settings to propagate, e.g., dynamic groups).
