Use case: Use this procedure to trigger an immediate synchronization of on-premises Active Directory data to Entra ID using Microsoft Entra Connect. This is useful when recent changes – such as new users, group updates, or attribute modifications – need to be reflected in Entra ID without waiting for the scheduled synchronization cycle.
Synchronization of Entra ID from AD happens automatically with some delay.
To trigger synchronization immediately, follow these steps:
- Click the Connection Manager tab and choose Active Directory Connection Manager.
- Open the Active Directory Connection Properties by clicking the field under Entra Connect Server for the domain you want to synchronize.
- Type the name of the Entra Connect Server.
- Click OK.
- Click the On-Premises AD tab.
- Click the Entra Connect delta synchronization button to invoke synchronization of Entra ID from AD.
