Use case: Use this procedure to export a user’s OneDrive to a ZIP file for backup, migration, archiving, or offline access. Exporting a OneDrive creates a compressed archive containing the user’s files and folders, making it easy to transfer or preserve the content outside Microsoft 365.
To export a user’s OneDrive to a ZIP file, do the following:
- Open User Properties for the user.
- Select the OneDrive tab.
- Click OneDrive Storage, and then click Export to open the OneDrive Export window.
- Click Export to start the export.
- Site collection administrator permissions are required to export a user’s OneDrive. If you do not have the required permissions, a prompt appears. Click Assign to temporarily assign the required permissions. The permissions are removed automatically after the export completes.
- Wait for the export to complete. The export duration depends on the size of the OneDrive.
- Click Close to close the OneDrive Export window.
